ABOUT ME

I'm a prize-winning and published writer with a Master's in Creative Writing with Distinction from the University of Kent and a BA in English Language and Literature from the University of Reading.

My thirty-year career in film and television in the UK and US has focused on script-reading and development, media production, and communications. As a result, my editing expertise is extensive, encompassing film and television screenplays, print, press, internal and corporate comms, with a personal passion for fiction, non-fiction, poetry, and memoir.

I'm excited to offer my varied skills to help other writers perfect their work, in a way that is always honest, supportive and practical.

SERVICES

DEVELOPMENTAL EDITING

This edit looks at the “big picture". Are the structure, form, plot, themes, and characters of your novel working and serving your overall purpose? How is the language working in your description, dialogue and at sentence level? Or do you have a non-fiction project, which needs a fresh pair of eyes to bring a new perspective?

We'll discuss your project before and after my edit, and I'll provide an editorial report, focussing on the work's strengths and suggesting  potential areas for development.

LINE EDITING

My line edit will focus on readability: smoothing your copy, enhancing your voice, and making your writing shine. I'll also carefully review grammar, punctuation and spelling. I will provide a manuscript fully marked-up with track changes and comments, and a brief editorial report.

TESTIMONIALS

It was fantastic to work with Tracey on my book, Taken: Experiences of Forced AdoptionI am so grateful for her expertise, eye for detail and accuracy, her grasp of the often complex issues, alongside the non-stop encouragement – all invaluable to me. I simply couldn’t have done it without.

Karen Constantine

Tracey worked on my debut novel, Love on the Dotted Line and from the very beginning she was professional, supportive, and incredibly dedicated to bringing out the best in my work. She did such an excellent job with my first book, there was no hesitation when it came to choosing an editor for my second novel, I went straight back to her. Once again, she delivered beyond expectations.

Ogugua Ajayi

Tracey is the perfect editor, making each writer's voice better rather than changing their style. Her communication and feedback are invaluable, both precise and encouraging. I cannot recommend her highly enough and will be entrusting her with my next novel.

Jayne Leadbetter

Exposing my novel, Outside In, felt like putting my soul under the microscope. I needn’t have worried, Tracey is fast and trustworthy, with a razor-sharp eye, and a writer’s intuition for unearthing the heart of the story.

Vanda Krutnik

Tracey's feedback gives me exactly what I'm looking for – she has a forensic eye for detail yet she balances this with the ability to understand and capture the essence of what I'm trying to write. Her feedback is exacting but always warm, and she offers practical suggestions which make me think.

Julie Holden

Tracey comments with a forensic eye, picking up both major flaws and minor hiccups with equal care, and delivers feedback with clarity and kindness.

Caroline Bloor

I have appreciated your taking this project on, your ability to work with this old poet, your willingness to help separate the wheat from the chaff, your desire to get things right. It's been all good for me, a pleasure.

John P. Asling

I was a little daunted to bring the second of my Book and the Knife novel series to Tracey. I needn’t have worried – she immediately got what the book was about, and her assessment was forensic, insightful and detailed, but always patient and kind!  When you write something, you can only hope it's effective, and it was so supportive too to get comments where Tracey liked a particular passage or speech.

MY WRITING

In 'Tell Us About Snow', my debut pamphlet published in July 2026, I draw on my experiences as a young teen, emigrating from London to Guyana in 1976 for my mother’s remarriage. The thirteen poems move between intimate memory and wider social histories, questioning ideas of home, identity and inheritance.

‘A vivid first collection – a UK teenager uprooted and immersed into 1970s Guyana where language and culture pulsate their distinct rhythm into powerful, sensuous and evocative poems.’ Maggie Harris, Winner of the Guyana Prize for Literature (Poetry)

‘This is an exquisitely rendered, delicate, and precise work: forged in blood and bone, as the girl ‘no longer a girl’ carries ‘four continents in her blood’ and negotiates the brutalities of an intoxicating and unsettling adult world. The pulsing landscape is stitched together with shifting territories of sexuality and desire – allowing access to this complex, juvenile transition into womanhood. This is an impressive, stunning debut pamphlet from a writer finally ready to share her voice and vision.’ Dr Dorothy Lehane
